TGA-DSC is a combined thermal analysis technique that measures both weight change (TGA) and heat flow (DSC) in a sample as it is heated or cooled under controlled conditions. It reveals thermal stability, decomposition behavior, melting points, glass transitions and crystallization events, making it valuable for characterizing polymers, pharmaceuticals, ceramics and other materials.
A small amount of sample, typically 5-20 mg, is sufficient for a standard TGA-DSC run, depending on the material and the analysis parameters selected.
TGA-DSC instruments can typically analyze samples from room temperature up to several hundred or over a thousand degrees Celsius, depending on the instrument configuration and the material being tested.
