What is CHNS Analysis?

CHNS elemental analysis determines the percentage composition of Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen and Sulphur in a sample through complete combustion. The combustion products are separated and measured, giving precise quantitative data on elemental content. This technique is widely used for characterizing organic compounds, polymers, coal, soil, pharmaceuticals and food products.

What is the Sample Quantity required for CHNS Analysis?

Typically a few milligrams (1-5 mg) of solid or liquid sample is sufficient for a complete CHNS run, depending on the expected elemental concentration and sample matrix.
